On December 9, 2018, the first meeting of the editorial board for the Chinese edition of Current Opinion in Psychiatry (COP) was held in Shenzhen.

 

 

Professor Lu Lin, an academician of Chinese Academy of Science, an honorary chief editor of the Chinese edition of COP and president of the No. 6 Hospital Affiliated to Peking University, made opening remarks. He highly praised and recognized the work of all editors of the Chinese edition of COP, thanked them for their contributions to the Chinese edition of COP and expressed congratulations to th

 

 

Professor Wang Gaohua, chairman of the psychiatrist branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association and the chief editor for the Chinese edition of COP, gave important guiding opinions on the future development of the Chinese edition of COP, “The Chinese edition of COP should be geared to clinical purposes, doctors and patients. We should pay attention to the voice, opinions and feelings of the readers, enhance the collection and feedback of information from the readers, pay more attention to the feelings of the readers in such aspects as contents, edition and type setting of articles. We should keep creating, exploring and conveying professional and innovative new knowledge of the contemporary psychiatry and serve more clinicians and patients in the field of mental health.”

 

 

The meeting was presided over by six experts, including Professor Tang Hongyu, an honorary chairman of the psychiatrist branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association and an adviser for the Chinese edition of COP, Professor Liu Tiebang, director of Shenzhen Mental Health Center, vice chairman of the psychiatrist branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association and a member of the editorial board for the Chinese edition of COP, Professor Yang Fude, deputy director of the asylum administration branch of Chinese Hospital Association and a member of the editorial board for the Chinese edition of COP, Professor Li Tao, deputy director of the basic and clinical psychiatry branch of Chinese Society of Neuroscience and a member of the editorial board for the Chinese edition of COP, Professor Hao Wei, a member of the drug and alcohol expert advisory board of the World Health Organization and an adviser for the Chinese edition of COP, and Professor Wang Gaohua, the chairman of the psychiatrist branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association and the chief editor of the Chinese edition of COP.

 

 

Professor Wang Huiling, the director of the edition and translation department for the Chinese edition of COP, introduced the running conditions of the first year. So far the editorial board has been established. The journal’s operation has been geared to clinical purposes, doctors and patients. Since the Chinese edition of Current Opinion in Psychiatry was established, it has been published and released for three issues successfully. 5,000 copies were printed in each issue, and nearly 20,000 copies have been distributed. 27 national lecture tours have been finished nationwide, influencing more than 6,000 clinicians.

 

 

Professor Hu Shaohua, deputy director of the mental health center of the No. 1 Hospital Affiliated to Zhejiang University and the executive chief editor for the third issue of the Chinese edition of COP, publicized the 3rd issue of the journal.

 

 

Professor Wang Xiaoping, the director of the psychiatry department of Xiangya No. 2 Hospital Affiliated to Central South University and the associate editor for the Chinese edition of COP, explained the 4th issue of the journal, introduced the issues that concerned the members of the editorial board, and explained in detail the selected article “Use of Materials and Addiction Disorder in the Drafts of DSM-5, ICD10 and ICD11” and invited the readers to speak on the platform.

 

 

Ms. Bao Danhua, market supervisor of Foncoo Pharmaceutical, briefly introduced multiple innovations to the operating plan of the Chinese edition of COP in 2019 such as development of mental health of China, communication with experts at home and abroad, and the introduction of electronic edition of the journal. The members of the editorial board launched a heated discussion and voiced their ideas on the development, operating plan, themes and topic selection of the Chinese edition of COP in 2019.

 

 

Later, the editors of different issues of the journal got together to make valuable suggestions for the operation of the journal in the future, including suggestions and expectations on its operation, how to increase the communication between the editors and the readers through the platform of the journal, and suggestions on the themes and topics of the journal in 2019.

 

 

Finally, the host of the meeting and the chief editor of the Chinese edition of COP, Professor Wang Gaohua made a summary speech, expressed gratitude for the active participation of summarized their opinions: centered on the readers and doctors. Each issue of journal is planned with prominent themes, highlighting key articles, and making a comprehensive interpretation and analysis from the perspectives of experts, edition and translation, doctors, readers and application. It was publicized and recommended by making a full use of new media so that more practitioners in the field of mental health can read, communicate and exchange on it.

 

 

In the end, Professor Wang hoped that more doctors, editors and associations can join the big family of the Chinese edition of COP. Later, Wang posed for a photo with the experts of the editorial board attending the meeting to celebrate the first meeting of the editorial board and draw a successful conclusion to the event.
